Emerson Eagles – A PBIS School
Emerson staff and students will begin the 2014-15 school year as a Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) system school. This system is a framework for supporting the social, emotional and behavioral needs of all students in our school in a positive setting.
What are the outcomes of PBIS?
- Decrease disruptive classroom behaviors and discipline referrals
- Increase time for academic instruction and administrator leadership
- Improve school safety and climate
Why is PBIS needed here are Emerson?
Students are being sent to the office for disruptive and disrespectful behavior. When that occurs they are not learning and this also interferes with the learning of others. We need to help our students to be successful academically and behaviorally.
Our Vision at Emerson
EAGLE – An Environment to Achieve Growth for Life for Each Student
Emerson Eagles are expected to follow the RRC Expectations – and that is to be Responsible, Respectful and Caring at all times on our campus.
Emerson is actively participating with KOI Education to develop this system. As a part of PBIS, behavioral expectations will be clearly defined and combined with positive reinforcements. This will help to create an environment in which students can thrive academically while learning to become responsible citizens.
